CHAPTER 8
Summary:
Bernard is curious about John's life so he asks John to tell him his life story. John tells that he was always made fun of as a kid for being different. His mom slept around,(which is considered wrong in this society), his mom didn't know how to mend clothes, and he had blonde hair. All of his stories revolve around some sort of pain or sorrow. He was never allowed to do the things that the other boys is age could. His mother was never really a mother because she was conditioned to be one. When John finishes his stories, Bernard asks him if he wants to come back to London with them. John is over joyed and asks if Linda can come to. Bernard doesn't want her to come because he thinks she is revolting but after thinking over it occurs to him that she would be a a great asset to his plan. So it is decided that if Bernard can get permission, John and Linda will go back to the 'Other Place' with Bernard and Lenina. John then asks Bernard an odd question; he asks if Bernard and Lenin are married. Bernard laughs and wsays no which makes John even happier.

Importance of Chapter:
We learn about John's upbringing. We discover what it was like for John to live in the Savage Reservation. John is like Bernard in the aspect that they are both outsiders. We learn that even when Linda has been in the Reservation for over 20 years, she hasn't lost any of her conditioning. When the other boys are tormenting John about his clothes or calling Linda names he just thinks about the fact that he can read and they can't. This causes John to push himself to learn quicker.
Again - great job!
