Harrison Bergeron-Ballerina

We were prancing about the stage like deer. We had practiced the number many times, tonight was the big night. There was only one chance to mess everything up.

Is the author insinuating that the ballerinas are deer? Google the different aspects of a deer's life. DO NOT use Bing.

The other dancers were stumbling around the stage when a stuttering man ran on the stage and had an announcement to make. He tried to read the paper but he finally gave up and handed it to me.

"Excuse me, Harrison Bergeron, age fourteen, has just escaped from jail, where he was held on suspicion of plotting to overthrow the government."

Just than, a huge man broke through the stage doors, and came up to center stage. It had to be Harrison Bergeron. He declared himself the emperor and said that everyone should do what he says.

Is there a reason that Harrison declares himself emperor? Why didn't he say king, or ruler of the world? Write a ten page paper on why you think he did this. 


Harrison ripped off all his handicaps and flung the red rubber ball that covered his nose. When his eyebrows grew back and he took the black caps off his teeth, he would be a very attractive person.

Harrison's eyes scanned the crowd and landed on me. I was a little intimidated by the way he stared at me but decided I was done being humiliated by these handicaps. I was a dancer and it was time people started letting me act like one. I stood up and walked over to him. He towered over me but I stood my ground while he ripped off my handicaps.

 "Now, shall we show the people the meaning of the word dance? Music!"

Harrison walked over the the musicians and ripped off their handicaps. The musicians begin playing the music and Harrison and I began dancing. It was so nice to dance without handicaps. Harrison was a beautiful dancer. I have never danced with someone so graceful before. It felt as though we were gliding across the stage. We leapt up in the air and kissed the ceiling.

Why would someone kiss a ceiling? Did they really kiss the ceiling or was it metaphorically? 

Just as we reached the ceiling, Diana Moon Glampers came busting through the doors with a double barrel shotgun. She had an evil look in her eyes.

She aimed it at Harrison and me and with one shot he was dead. She aimed at me and my life flashed before my eyes and everything went black.
