Vocabulary- Oct. 5

Chagrin- n. a feeling of annoyance or mortification
  The chagrin NBA player lost a basketball game to a nerd.

Detestable- adj.  hateful
 The detestable old woman threw rotten eggs at young children walking to school.

Ethereal- adj. light, airy, extremely delicate or refined
 The woman's ethereal performance showed how well she glided on the dance floor.

Imposing- adj.very impressive because of great size
 Cindy's imposing dog was very scary with his sharp pointy teeth.

Majestic- adj. grand
 The majestic white pony galloped across the field of daisies.

Contempt-  n. the feeling with which a person regards anything considered mean, vile or worthless
 Shelly held contempt towards Lori because she threw her stapler at the patient.

Posterity- n. all descendants of one person
 You can see a display of Queen Elizabeth's posterity in the museum.

Sirens- n. Mythological sea nymphs, part woman and part bird, who lures mariners to destruction by their seductive singing
 The sirens sang their treacherous song and lured the sailors to their untimely deaths.

Pluck- vb. to pull or tug sharply; to snatch; to summon up one's courage
 She had the pluck to stand up to her boss and quit her job.

Perspicacity- n. keenness of mental perception and understanding
 Sarah had the perspicacity of a door mouse.
